$ 90.55

Category:
Bullnose Stair Nosing for Wood, Tile, Vinyl & Laminate Stairs The 87 x 40mm aluminium bullnose stair nosing combines a clean, rounded front edge with a durable non-slip PVC insert, making it a versatile and professional-looking solution for both commercial and residential staircases. The bullnose profile — with its smooth, contemporary curve — provides a softer visual finish than angular profiles while effectively protecting the stair edge from daily impact and wear. The non-slip PVC insert runs the full length of the tread, providing reliable grip on stairs finished with wood, tile, vinyl or laminate where smooth surfaces can present a slip hazard. With 11 colour options, the insert can be chosen to contrast with the stair surface for improved step visibility, or to complement the surrounding finish for a more discreet look. Pre-Drilled with Colour-Matched Pips The profile is supplied pre-drilled through the insert with colour-matched pips, concealing screw heads for a clean, finished appearance. Undrilled and channel-only configurations with separately supplied inserts are available on request. Fixings not included. BS 8300 Compatible This profile is designed to meet the guidelines in BS 8300:2009 A1:2010, supporting accessibility compliance in commercial and public buildings. For formal compliance, the PVC insert colour should provide a minimum 30-point LRV contrast against the surrounding stair surface. A bullnose stair nosing differs from standard straight-edge profiles in its rounded front edge. This rounded nose softens the visual impact of the nosing on the staircase, giving a more contemporary look that works well in modern residential and commercial interiors. It also reduces the sharpness of the tread edge, which can be a consideration in settings where children or elderly users are present. The wide 87mm tread coverage provides generous protection across the full stair edge. Frequently Asked Questions What is a bullnose stair nosing? A bullnose stair nosing has a rounded front edge rather than a sharp or angled edge. This gives a smoother, more contemporary finish while still providing anti-slip protection and stair edge coverage. The term “bullnose” refers to the rounded nose shape of the profile. Can this be used on tile or stone stairs? Yes. The profile is suitable for stairs finished with ceramic, porcelain and natural stone tiles, as well as wood, laminate and vinyl. It is surface-mounted and screw-fixed, so it can be applied to virtually any solid stair surface. Is this suitable for outdoor use? Anodised aluminium performs well in covered outdoor environments such as porches, canopied steps and external staircases with overhead shelter. For fully exposed outdoor use in harsh weather, contact us to confirm suitability. Can the profile be cut to a non-standard length? Yes. The aluminium profile can be cut to your required length with a mitre saw or angle grinder fitted with a metal cutting disc. Cut before installation and deburr the cut end with a fine file. What fixings should I use? The profile is pre-drilled for screw fixing. Use screws and wall plugs or masonry anchors appropriate to your substrate. For timber stairs, standard wood screws are suitable. Fixings are not included with this product. Does this meet DDA requirements? The profile is designed to meet the guidelines in BS 8300:2009 A1:2010. For DDA compliance in public buildings, the insert colour should contrast with the surrounding stair surface by a minimum of 30 LRV points. Yellow is commonly specified for this purpose due to its high visibility.
